Executive Function - the ability to use your capacity when it counts..

Built for people who already perform at a high level and want to understand what happens in body and brain when the pressure rises, and train a different response. This is not a stress management program. The program trains four things that show up in your work and competition.

Stop before you react.

IMPULSE CONTROL

Think clearly under pressure

COGNITIVE FLEXIBILITY

Hold focus when it's noisy

ATTENTION

Tolerate discomfort without it running you.

EMOTIONAL REGULATION

ACT, Acceptance and Commitment Training, trains psychological flexibility: the ability to stop, see thoughts as thoughts, meet discomfort without fighting it and act on what matters. Each week you learn one concrete ACT skill with Gabriella and practise it technically.

Breathing is what turns the skill into an experience. On Thursday Johnny takes the week's theme into the body. Depending on the theme that can mean regulation, opening up breathing capacity, creating emotional space or meeting something challenging with the breath as support. What you learned in your head on Tuesday, you feel in your body on Thursday.

There is a physiological basis too. Chronic overbreathing lowers carbon dioxide in the blood and impairs prefrontal function, which is exactly the executive capacity the program trains. The breathing work adjusts that foundation so the ACT work has better conditions to take hold.

As far as we know this is the first time ACT and breathing training have been woven together this way in one program. It is co-designed by Johnny Oduya, founder of Hale and CBBA Certified Breathing Behaviour Analyst, and Gabriella Svanberg, licensed psychologist and specialist in neuropsychology.

You leave with evidence, not just a feeling

Before the first week and after the last we do a private assessment of where you are. Three perspectives on the same person, so the change can be seen from more than one angle.

CAPNOGRAPHY

Capnography measures carbon dioxide in the exhaled air, breath by breath. It makes breathing behaviour visible: how you breathe at rest, under load and while recovering. We analyse the patterns at the start and then see how they have shifted after six weeks.

HRV

Nervous system recovery. Heart rate variability shows how the nervous system recovers and adapts to load. We measure before and after to see whether the body's ability to switch between activation and recovery has changed.

SELF ASSESSMENT

Your own baseline. A structured self assessment of how you function right now: clarity, focus, recovery, impulse control and how you handle pressure. The same questions after the program, so your own experience sits next to the physiology.

Two disciplines, one program

WHO LEADS IT?

Johnny Oduya

Breathing · Founder of Hale

CBBA, Certified Breathing Behaviour Analyst

Leads the breathing and the Thursday sessions in the studio. Developed the Hale concept and trained Hale's certified breath coaches. Responsible for the capnography and HRV assessments before and after the program.

Gabriella Svanberg

ACT · Licensed psychologist, specialist in neuropsychology

Leads the ACT work and the Tuesday sessions online. The training model is built on a program she developed that was tested and evaluated in a research project at the Swedish National Board of Institutional Care 2013 to 2015, with support for increased psychological flexibility and strengthened executive function.
